Our Board Members

Our board is comprised of experienced law enforcement and firearms involvement dedicated to bring all licensed concealed carry instructors together, primarily in North Carolina.

Harvey Morse,
President

After attending college and law school, Harvey Morse has served in law enforcement for over 60 years. He brings decades of police experience, education, and teaching from the Federal, State, County, and Municipal levels, including his activities as a Vehicular Homicide Investigator, State Trooper, Assistant Police Chief, and Deputy Sheriff. He is a Life Member of the Florida Police Chief’s Association and the International Association of Chiefs of Police. Harvey has taught Concealed Carry for over 30 years in multiple states, is NRA and North Carolina certified, and is a Range Safety Officer. He holds many police certifications and awards

Harry Katt,
Vice President

Harry Katt is a retired police Captain. Harry has decades of instructional experience as a law
enforcement instructor and private citizen offering personal safety, concealed carry, situational
awareness, and workplace violence prevention training. He is a certified NRA Pistol Instructor, a
NRA Range Safety Officer and a North Carolina Concealed Carry Handgun Instructor.

Rhonda Allen,
NCCCIA Treasurer

– aka “GUN GIRL”

Rhonda Allen is the NCCCIA Treasurer. She is an appointed NRA Training Counselor providing instruction, credentialing and mentoring to basic students and new instructors in multiple shooting disciplines. Rhonda has been a full time Professional Firearms Instructor and Chief Range Safety Officer for 11 years as Owner/Operator/Lead Trainer of Armed Angels Training, LLC. Rhonda also serves as the State Leader and Chapter Leader for Armed Women of America. She is a NC Certified Concealed Carry Handgun Instructor, Refuse To Be A Victim Regional Counselor, Women On Target Clinic Director and A.L.I.C.E. Instructor.

Heather Allen,
NCCCIA Secretary

Concealed Carry & Basic Handgun Instructor

Heather Allen is a Concealed Carry and Basic Handgun instructor based out of Surf City, NC. She teaches the importance of our Second Amendment Rights in every class. Having previously worked for the California Rifle and Pistol Association, Heather is acutely aware that once a right is lost, it will almost never be restored. Heather recently became a Federal Firearms Licensed Dealer. She is also the North Carolina representative of Gun Owners of America’s Empowered 2A division. Heather could not be more proud to work on behalf of Concealed Carry Instructors in the beautiful state of North Carolina while sitting on the board of the NCCCIA.

Chad Thompson,
Director

Chad Thompson is a 35 year law enforcement veteran serving at local, State, Federal and even in International capacities. Chad began his career in the US Coast Guard headquartered out of District 7 in Miami Florida. Chad returned to his native State of NC in 1993 and has served in several capacities up to and including Narcotics Lieutenant and then Training Lieutenant at the Johnston County Sheriffs Office. Chad has taught concealed carry-handgun in NC since the program was conceived and became law in our State. Additionally Chad served as Firearms School Director and Senior Firearms Instructor at the NC Justice Academy for 15 years until his retirement in 2022. Lastly, Chad is a Grandmaster pistol competitor on the USPSA circuit shooting for Deep River Customs

Jason Cheek,
Director

Jason Cheek has been a NC Concealed Carry Instructor since 2021. He is a former commissioned officer in the US Army Reserve, Military Police Corps, was deployed to Afghanistan in 2008, and began work as a Magistrate Judge for the State of North Carolina in 2009. In 14 years of state service, Jason was elected as the President of the North Carolina Magistrates Association. In April of 2022 Jason ventured into the private sector, and currently works in land development and construction administration. As a full time professional, proud husband, and father to two young boys, Jason sets aside time to conduct a few concealed carry classes a year as a side service for small private groups, oftentimes with a focus on teaching veterans, former and retired LEO’s, and faith based groups.

Sheriff Irwin Carmichael, Ret.”
Director

Irwin Carmichael was born in rural Long Creek, a few miles north of Charlotte, North Carolina.

In 1986, Irwin joined the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and was elected Sheriff on November 4, 2014. Through his work, he has had the opportunity to interview hardened criminals and analyze the minds behind crimes. He has gathered information for his crime prevention programs through high profile transports of prisoners such as Henry Louis Wallace, Van Brett Watkins, and Rae Carruth. He saw a way to merge his skill in the martial arts with his knowledge of crime to develop a personal safety and awareness program, Women’s Awareness Response. As a courtesy of the Sheriff’s Office, he presented this program to organizations, businesses, and groups throughout the county and state

Our Association

NCCCIA is dedicated to improving the industry’s professionalism, affecting change in legislation or other governing rules and regulations when necessary, promoting a positive image of the licensed Concealed Carry Instructors profession to society, and attempting to resolve issues of concern.
